Robert and Marion Round
Robert and Marion
Round have won the Earl Mackenzie Award for those
involved in sports for at least 30 years. They've both
been honoured by the Ontario and Canadian governments
for roller skating and dance careers that include two
national championships. They have also collected Ontario
titles and several trophies during competitions in
Michigan.
In 1989 they were invited to skate at the grand opening
of the Toronto Blue Jays stadium (known then as the
SkyDome but since renamed the Rogers Centre). The pair
have also been named to the Mayor's Honour List for
their contributions to Sarnia sports history.
They began Roller Skating Dance as youngsters, learning
their craft at the old Rose Garden Roller Skating Rink
and Sarnia Arena.
