2022 Builders Award

This award recognizes significant contributions in the establishment of a sport from its infancy
 to the mature state within the community; would have been the individual to keep a sport alive in the community and have a  long-term service on sport committees and executive positions either at the local, provincial or national levels.




Barbara Rigg-Garbaty

Barb Rigg-Garbaty is being inducted in the builder category after coaching volleyball for 30 years with elementary school, high school and youth teams. She also trained and mentored officials and served as copresident of the Twin Bridges Volleyball Club.

Garbaty coached teams from 1979 to 1987 for the Sarnia Women's Volleyball Club, 2002-2003 with Sarnia Spikes and was a founding member of the Twin Bridges club, which was launched in 2004.

In 1976 she became a provincial level official in volleyball and for the last several years has been convening the referees for the Sarnia area.
