“I
thought we played
extremely well tonight,”
said Indiana head coach
Mick Lyon. “We played
some of our best soccer
in the first 20 minutes
but just couldn’t get
anything on the board
and they were able to
take advantage of a
couple breakdowns that
we had and that proved
to be the difference.”
With
Penn State(10-5-2, 6-1-1
Big Ten) leading 1-0 in
the 70th
minute, Chloe McKay
played a tremendous pass
to Carly Samp just
outside the box and she
then put a pass right on
Moses foot in the center
of the box. Moses was
all alone against the
keeper and put it home
just inside the far post
for her third goal of
the year to tie the
game.
After
Indiana (10-4-2, 2-3-2
Big Ten) dominated play
early in the game, Penn
State took advantage of
its first opportunity as
Katie Schoepfer layed a
ball off to Danielle
Toney in the middle of
the box and she scored
her 10th goal
of the year to give the
Nittany Lions a 1-0
lead.
Then
in the 80th
minute, it was Schoepfer
once again looking for
Toney in the box but her
pass was behind Toney
and found a streaking
Christine Nairn at the
back post and she put
home her seventh goal of
the year to give PSU the
2-1 lead.
Lauren Hollandsworth
started the game in goal
and allowed one goal and
then Lex Dickison came
on at halftime and gave
up the goal to Nairn in
the second half to
suffer the loss.
Penn
State held a 6-2
advantage in corner
kicks and a 9-6 edge in
shots in the game.
Indiana will be back in
action on Sunday, when
they hit the road for a
tussle with No. 15/13
Ohio State in Columbus
starting at 1 p.m.
