State (14-2-2, 7-1-1 Big
Ten) held most of the
possession in the first half
and were able to get a pair
of goals to take a 2-0 lead
into the locker room at
halftime. The first goal
came in the 23rd
minute following a loose
ball served into the box off
a corner kick that found the
foot of Ashley Bowyer for
her fourth goal of the year.
Two
minutes later Paige Maxwell
broke free on the left side
of the box and drilled a
shot to the far post for her
sixth goal on the year to
give Ohio State a 2-0 lead.
Indiana
goalkeeper Lauren
Hollandsworth made a pair of
diving saves in the first
half, the first coming on a
hard shot from the top of
the 18 to the near post.
The second was on a header
from a corner kick that
looked destined for the back
of the net but she reached
her right hand up and poked
it over the cross bar.
Hollandsworth finished the
game with four saves in goal
for Indiana.
The
Buckeyes’ third goal of the
game came in the second half
on another corner kick, this
time Lauren Steuer served in
the corner and it bounced
off a couple Hoosiers and
trickled into the net to
give Ohio State a 3-0 lead.
The lead jumped to 4-0 on a
rebound goal by Lauren
Granberg in the 61st
minute. Ohio State’s Kayla
Eckman put home the fifth
goal of the game on a set
