Hamilton College
tied visiting Colby College, 5-5, in a New
England Small College Athletic Conference game
at Russell Sage Rink on Dec. 4.
Christie Sharlow '11 (Potsdam,

chipped in two assists. The Continentals (1-3-2
overall, 1-2-2 NESCAC) settled for their second

Colby’s tying goal came on a wrist shot from the
right circle while the teams skated 4-on-4. The
shot was originally stopped by Lesley
Ryder '11 (Brooklyn, N.Y. /Midwood
HS (Sound Shore Warriors)), but the puck
trickled under her left arm and tumbled into the
goal. Ryder made 13 saves after she relieved
starter Meg Shine '10 (Duxbury,
Mass. /Tabor Academy) with 5:44 left in the
first period. Shine made 10 saves in the first
period, but allowed four goals.

this season at 2:17 of the opening period. On
the ensuing faceoff, Colby picked up a turnover
at the Continentals' blue line and skated in on
goal. Shine stopped the first shot, but the
second shot was stuffed through her pads to tie
the score at 1-1.
Colby went up 2-1 at 8:28 of the period on a
power-play goal. The Mules finished 1-for-4 with
the extra skater. Colby made the score 3-1 with
7:41 left, and completed its four-goal run on a
great wrist shot from the left circle that
sailed over Shine's right shoulder with 5:44
remaining.
The Mules then opened the door for Hamilton as
they were whistled for two penalties 53 seconds
apart to create a 5-on-3 power play for the
Continentals. Hamilton took advantage 38 seconds
after the second penalty was called on Sharlow's
first goal this season with 3:44 left.

N.Y. /Fairport HS (Buffalo Bisons) ) cut the
Continentals' deficit to 4-3 with her first
collegiate goal 32 seconds later. After yet
another Colby penalty with 1:37 remaining,

seconds left in the second period. The Mules
tied the score with 3:41 remaining in the third
period while the teams skated 4-on-4.
There were plenty of scoring opportunities in
overtime, but no goals. The Continentals took
five shots and the Mules had two. Hamilton
