Four quick goals in the first period gave Canada the edge and they took a solid 6 - 0 win over Slovakia.

"We looked like a different team tonight." Head Coach Dan Lambert from St. Malo Manitoba said "I thought we came out early and often, the whole team was going and everybody was playing the Canadian Way. We’ve been excited about our team and we believe that’s the type of team we can be. "

Blueliner Dante Fabbro started things off at 3:57 while on a power play taking a pass from Nolan Patrick then slapping it in from the blueline.  Seventeen seconds later Logan Brown scored a wrap around goal to take the early 2 - 0 lead.  Jake Kryski and Thomas Gregoire assisted on the goal.  Just under four minutes at 8:02 Logan Stanley scored the third goal after firing one in from the blueline.  Jake Kryski picked up his second point assisting on the goal.

Slovakia made a goaltending change after the third goal. Jan Koziak replaced David Hrenak in net.

The fourth goal of the period was scored :55 seconds later when Miguel Picard shot it point black in front of the crease. Adam Mascherin and Michael McLeod picked up assists.

Canada outshot Slovakia 12 - 4 in the first period.

In a scoreless second period Canada outshot Slovakia 14 - 4.

Third period Canada score at 6:23 with Mathieu Sevigny picking up a rebound after Victor Mete shot it in from the blueline.  Nolan Patrick also earned an assist on the play.  Final goal of the game came at 15:02 when Logan Stanley scoring his second of the game from the blueliine.  Nolan Patrick earned his third point of the game with the assist.

"When you play the European they are very skilled and talented. The last thing you want to do is allow them to wheel around with the puck and allow that skill to come out.  "I thought we did a good job tonight taking away their time and space making their D turn making them play a hard game especially early.   We did a great job with that and put them on their heals and once we did that we kind of just took them out of the game."

Canada outshot Slovakia in the third 19-6 for a game total of 45 shots.  Slovakia three period total was 14 shots.

Dylan Wells wasn't as busy as the Slovakia netminders but earned the shutout with 14 saves.  Jan Koziak and David Hrenak shared the duties in net for Slovakia made a combine total of 39 saves.

"We didn’t do a great job last game (referring to the 5-2 loss against Russia in Exhibition) we didn't’ have the puck a lot and obviously when you don’t have the puck you have to check and chase."

Canada Red is back in action on Monday night at 7:00 pm when they go up against Sweden at Lambton Shores.

"Sweden is a very good team." Lambert said "They have a lot of speed and they probably in a sense the're comparable to the first team we met in the exhibition so we are going to have to play a very similar game to make sure we take away their time, space and speed."
