AUGUST 25TH SARNIA VS WALLACEBURG IN THE SEMIS AT THE DANTE CLUB

Sarnia played a spectacular game on Wednesday, facing the fourth place Wallaceburg team for a berth in the finals.

Each team played a strong game, with the score staying close enough to have coaches, fans, and players anxiously watching the "nail biting" action on the field.  Sarnia scored first with Patrick Gagliardi making a beautiful head shot from a perfect pass of the foot of Anthony Fazzalari.  Neither team managed to score again during the first half.

During the second half, Wallaceburg scored twice rather quickly, and Sarnia found themselves on the losing end of the game for a brief period.  Some of the spectators moved off the bleachers, stepping up the fence and gripping the prongs of the wire mesh waiting for the next big move to be made.  Each time Sarnia made a move in their favour, the praise from parents and fans was quick to come.  With fifteen minutes left, Nick Vozza was able to take a penalty kick, and deaked the goalie, who went one way while the ball went the other.  Fury players ran to Nick, tackling him to the ground and cheering his efforts to put them back in the game.  Clinching the game was a second goal from Nick Vozza, made with only ninety seconds left, saving the keepers from a dreaded shootout to break the tie.  Nick's goal played out as follows:  Anthony Fazzalari sent a corner throw to Corey Soden.  With nowhere else to put it, Corey quickly sent it back to Anthony.  Anthony's aim found Nick Vozza out in front of the Wallaceburg keeper's box, where he again managed to outsmart the goalie.  The rest of the clock ran out, the spectators were pressed against the fence making noise right up till the last second, and when the time ran out everyone cheered the Fury's win.

This was not an easy game, as each team was fiercely defending their keeper's turf, and quickly moving the ball.  The Fury players used their heads, their chests, their backs, and every other legal part of their bodies to stop the ball from reigning down on Nick Speed.  Every child tried their best, and as such deserves credit for the win.

Way to go Fury!  Now on to the finals against Petrolia on August 31st, 6:30 pm, at the Dante Club.
