August 7th Sarnia Spirit (1) vs. Dorchester (1)

Sarnia hosted Dorchester August 7th in their 2nd meeting of league play.  With Sarnia and Dorchester very close in the standings, Sarnia was hoping for the win to keep them ahead of Dorchester.  Dorchester came out fairly strong and seemed to take control in the first half creating many scoring opportunities, however, Sarnia's Mackenzie Turner made some spectacular diving saves keeping the Spirit girls well in the game.  Dorchester would come out scoring first at the 11 minute mark and the score would end 1-0 going into the 2nd half.  Sarnia created a couple of beautiful scoring chances but could not find the back of the net.  The 2nd half proved to be a little slower but at the 12 minute marker, Lilia Pasqual would take a free kick just outside of the 18 yard box, perfectly placing the ball in front of the net.  Amy Rawlings headed the ball toward the net, Sidney Weiss then took a second header putting the ball into the opposing net.  The game would end in a draw, with a final score of 1-1.

August 9th Sarnia Spirit (1) vs. Kitchener (4)

Having played Kitchener earlier in the season and ending with a draw 0-0, the Sarnia girls were hoping for a well matched game.  With Kitchener currently in 3rd place in the standings, the girls knew they were up against a tough game.  Kitchener is a strong team and were able to come up with the first goal 15 minutes into play.  Only 2 minutes later, Sarnia was able to respond with their first.  Amy Rawlings, playing stopper for Sarnia, placed a strong kicked ball up to Alicia DaSilva.  Alicia took the pass from mid field, broke through two defenders and as the Kitchener goalie advanced out of the net, Alicia pushed the ball into the corner of the net.  At the 23 minute marker, Kitchener was able to respond with yet another goal.  The score would be 2-1 going into the 2nd half.  Mackenzie Turner was able to make some brilliant saves, however, Kitchener's offense was too strong for the Spirit and Kitchener would score twice more giving them the win with an end result of 4-1.
