Game 1 vs Upper Canada College

The Northern Vikings dropped their  first game on Tuesday against Upper Canada College 5-2. 

The Vikings played well but but there was about a 5 min span in the second period when Upper Canada scored three goals.  Northern fought back but ran into some good goal tending.  3
Northerns 2 goals came in the third period with Elliot Pecora scoring first from Jordan McBeath and Joey Burt.  Colin Epps scored the second Vikings goal from Pecora and Burt.

Northern had three breakaway chances that they didn't capitalize on. 

The team will will need to win both games on Wednesday to earn a berth  into the quarterfinal round. 

Game 2 vs Fellowes HS
 

Northern survived the early morning game vs Fellows from Pembroke 3-2.  The goal scorers were Derek D'Andrea, Elliot Pecora and Viktor Kovacs. 

Game 3 vs St. Mary

Northern lost a heart breaker 3 - 2 against a team that hasn't lost all season.  Northern took a two goal lead in the first period on goals by Ryan Dayman and Joey Burt.  St. Mary scored 1 in the first period and 1 in the second to tie things up.

With St. Mary being a fast team Northern got into some penalty trouble trying to contain them and St. Mary managed to score midway through the third folloiwng a long penalty kill that was partially a 5 on 3.
That goal gave St. Mary a 3-2 lead.  Northern had several chances late in the third including a power play but the Vikings couldn't find the back of the net. 

Pool Play continues Thursday at 8:15 am against St Joan of Arc from Barrie.

Game 4 vs St. Joan of Arc

It was back and forth hockey as the Vikings and Joan of Arc ended in a 3 way tie.  St Joan of Arc scored first then Northern answered back on an unassisted goal by Viktor Kovacs.  In the second Northern took the lead on a goal scored by Ben Sokol assisted by Graeme Wattie and Branden Burr.  St Joan of Arc came back and tied it up before the end of the period.  In the third St. Joan of Arc took the lead only to have the Vikings Dan Charlton tie things up assisted by Justin Stymest.  The score would remain the same at the end of the game.
