Swim group finished first overall among 12 and
13-year-old girls at the SEAL (St. Clair Erie
Aquatic League) swimming championships in Windsor in
April. Tanesha garnered two 2nd-place,
two 3rd-place and a 4th-place finish to
amass the most points overall. Jacob Zerko, also 13,
added two 2nd-place and two 3rd-place
finishes to his 1st-place in the 100m
backstroke, to take 3rd overall among 12-
and 13-year-old boys. They also participated on a 2nd-place
relay team with Liam Young (12) and Adelle Jonker
(13). Liam also came 4th in the 200m
freestyle, while Adelle swam a personal best time in
the 100m breaststroke.
Overall, 90 percent of the swims
for the team were personal best times (PBTs), with
19 of the 26 swimmers achieving personal bests in
three or more events. Six of them – Ella Roland, 7,
Samantha Bedard and Lucas Piazza, 8, Hannah Lacey,
10, Liam and Tanesha, – reached PBTs in five or more
individual events. Erin Lacey, 7, came 3rd
in the 25m backstroke and 6th in the 25m
butterfly, while Ella finished 5th in the
25m breaststroke. Nadine Osmon, 8, placed 4th
in the 50m freestyle and 7th in the 25m butterfly.
Luke Young, 11, finished 9th in the 100m
freestyle. Juliette Rossi, 7, had three Top 10
finishes.
Also swimming were Nes Tulang, 8,
Dylan Cloud, 9, Dhwani Bhadresa, Samantha Lefebvre
and Isabelle Rossi, 10, Jaedyn and McKenna Chalmers
and Nadia Cartwright, 11, Latashia Dutcher, Dariel
Gomez, Elizabeth Hunt and Janelle Joosten, 12,
Anjali Rawat and Sophie Stasyna, 13.

This was their final meet of the SEAL season for
2009-2010.
