Sarnia, ON –
The Sarnia Sting Hockey Club in association with the United Way of
Sarnia-Lambton are excited to announce a change in format to this
year’s annual Sarnia Sting Black vs. White game.
This year’s game
will be a “four on four” contest that will emphasize skill and speed
as it will be non-contact with some very special guests taking part
in the game.
Fans can look
forward to seeing a few favorites of the past, present and future in
the form of:
- Sarnia-native
Jamie Fraser who will take to the ice before departing to the New
York Islanders training camp
- Last season’s
Sting Captain Ryan Wilson will hit the ice at the SSEC one last time
before departing to camp with the Calgary Flames

- And last but not
least this will be one last chance for Sting fans to come out and
see the first overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft, one of the newest
members of the Tampa Bay Lightning and last year’s Sting scoring
leader, Steven Stamkos.
For
the third year in a row, the United Way will receive the admission
at the gate for the annual Black vs White game. Door prizes donated
by The Sarnia Sting and the United Way will be offered. Everybody
who attends the game is eligible to win. Admission is $2 and a
player roster will also be available for 25 cents.
“We
are grateful to the Sarnia Sting for offering us the game gate again
this year. The proceeds from this game and other activities during
the year that involve the United Way are further examples of the
Sting’s commitment to our community and the people who live here,”
said Dave Brown, the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton Executive
Director. Brown added that the Sting have been great to work with
over the years and he said that each year, their relationship with
the Sting and the staff seems to get stronger and stronger.
Game time on
Saturday is 4:00 pm.
