Sting Acquire Goaltender From Kingston

John Cullen Joins The Sting

Sarnia, On – General Manager Dave MacQueen announced the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club has acquired goaltender John Cullen from the Kingston Frontenacs.

In exchange the Frontenacs will receive the Sting’s 7th round pick in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection.

Cullen a native of Hamburg, New York appeared in 16 games with the Frontenacs last season and was originally a draft pick of the Niagara Ice Dogs.  A key stat of Cullen’s last season was an outstanding .919 save percentage.

Dave MacQueen is looking forward to a competitive training camp in net.

“With the acquisition of John it adds depth to our goaltending position and we now have a handful of goaltenders who will be competing for the two spots available.  They each have the same opportunity and the ones who perform the best will be the ones who make our club.”

The Sting open their 2010 Training Camp on Tuesday August 31st at the RBC Centre.  A full training camp schedule will be released next week.
