Sting head
coach Dave MacQueen downplayed his
team's lack of offensive output.
"It's
exhibition so it's not the time to make
a big deal out of out, but we do have a
lot of bad habits to correct. This is
the OHL and things players got away in
midget, they aren't going to get away
with here. They got out to a quick 3-0
lead due to mental mistakes that can be
corrected."
MacQueen
expanded on those mistakes.
"It was
three giveaways at the start of the game
and the puck ended up in the back of our
net. We can't afford to fall behind two
or three goals early and expect to claw
back. It was mistakes at our blueline
and not getting pucks out along the
boards. Offensively we need to execute
when we do have our chances because were
are not going to score five, six or
seven goals a game."
Part of the
credit needs to go to 19-year-old Spirit
goalie Anthony Peters who kicked our all
32 shots he faced to post the shutout.
He stopped Tyler Peters of the Sting on
a breakaway in the second period while
Nathan Chiarlitti rang a slapshot off
the crossbar in the third period.

Shayne
Campbell started in goal for the Sting
and allowed three goals on 11 shots.
Jesse Raymond took over midway through
the second period and gave up one goal,
on a power play, on 16 shots.
Garrett
Ross, Vincent Trocheck, Josh Shalla and
Sloan Stewart scored for Saginaw who had
a 2-0 lead before the game was two
minutes old. They had a 3-0 lead 12
minutes into the opening period.

So what does MacQueen want to see his
team do in their final pre-season game
tonight?
"I want to
see us limit our mistakes, especially
those mental mistakes. Exhibition games
are for seeing who fits where and this
is the final time the players have to
show that."
Sarnia had
11 veterans dressed and Saginaw six.
