Several members
of Sarnia Athletics Southwest Track and
Field Club took part in the Royal
Canadian Legion Provincial Indoor Track and
Field Championships in Toronto on February
1st.
In the 15 and
under boys age group, Shawn Master finished
4th in the 1500m with a time of 4:51 and 5th
in the 800m in a time of 2:13. Meghan Reddy
ran 2 events in the 17 and under girls
division. Meghan was 21st in the 60m as she
ran a time of 8:77 seconds and in her 200m
race, she finished 19th with a run of 25:66
seconds. Kate Fleisher ran the 800m and
1500m in the girls 17 and under division and
had a 7th place finish in the 1500 with a
time of 5:22 and then an 11th place finish
in the 800 which she ran in 2:36.
In boys 17 and
under events Sean Stewart ran both the 200m
and 400m. His time of 56:32 was good for
10th in the 400m and was 16th in the 200m
with a time of 26:04.Brandon Huzevka had a
solid showing placing 7th in the 400m event
in a time of 55:08 and 8th in the 800m which
he ran in 2:11. Adam Sawatzky was strong in
the 800m and finshed 5th in 2:07 and then
ran 4:42 in the 1500m to finsh 15th. Matt
Hall rounded out the contingent from the
club and Matt turned in a time of 4:52 for
the 1500m and placeed 20th as well as
running the 3000m in 10:03 to finish 16th.
The Club is coached by Joel Skinner, Mark
MacDonald and Doug Currie. Members will be
participating in several other indoor events
prior to the start of the High School Track
season.
