Reinder’s Help Point
Atom’s Rebound
From 1st Loss With a 5-1
Win
After coming off a hard
fought losss the night before, the Point Atom Blackhawks
hosted the Strathroy Rockets(Blue) in Lambton-Middlesex
league action and came away with a 5-0 victory.
Early in the first it looked
like both teams were finding their legs. As the period
reached the midway point the Hawks looked to get some
momentum going and began pressuring the Rockets deep in
their end. Late in the period the pressure paid off when
Matt Laframboise made a precision pass to Noah Best who
put it past the Rockets net minder to end the period 1-0
for the Point.
The second period saw a more competitive Rockets team
and the game really heated up. Both defensive crews seem
to keep the forwards well away from their goalies.
Mid-way through the second, the Point caught the Rockets
pinching in and Nathan Edlington made a pass to an
opened Kaeden Canie who made it 2-0. The second
continued to see both teams dig hard for the puck and
the period ended 2-0 in favour of the Hawks.
The third period saw a tired
Strathroy team and the Point Edward team took advantage
of it. Early in the third Garrett Kennedy extended the
Point lead to 3-0 from a Noah Young pass. Shortly
thereafter Noah Best made it 4-0 with assists going to
Canie and Potvin. The Rockets regained their composure
to make it 4-1 but the damage was done. The game ended
5-1 after Canie scored his second of the game to give
the Hawks a well deserved win.
The Point Edward Atom’s have
a tough coming weekend as they play a double header on
Saturday Dec 5th. The first game is in Mount
Brydges at 11:50am and then they come home to host
Lambton Shores in the Point at 5pm.
