Point Edward Atom’s Hit Mid-Season With a Win to Stay Undefeated

The Point Edward Atom Blackhawks hosted the East-Lambton  Predators in Lambton-Middlesex league action and came away with a 12-0 win to keep the Point undefeated going into the second half of their schedule.

The Hawks came out hard as they put a lot of pressure on the Predators and the East Lambton goalie came up big early in the period to keep the game at 0-0. By the mid-way point of the first, the Blackhawks cracked the Predators defense and drew first blood when Robert Boccanfuso made a clearing pass out of the Hawks end to an opened Mackenzie Caley, who skated down the ice to put it in the top shelf. Shortly thereafter the Point was putting a lot of pressure in the Predators zone when Noah Best took a shot and Jett Terpstra slammed in the rebound to make it 2-0. Noah Young got his first of his hat trick to make it 3-0 to end the period.

The Point hit the second without missing a step and continued with a lot of offensive pressure. Laframboise set up Kennedy for a shot that was saved by the Predators goalie but Canie put the rebound into the net to make it 4-0. The Predators had few offensive opportunities and had to play defensively. Late in the period, Haagsma received the puck off the face-off and passed it to an opened Kaeden Canie who put it in the net for his second of the game. Kennedy put one in at the end of the period to make it 6-0 going into the third.

With the Predators carrying a short bench and the continuous pressure by the Hawks, the Predators defense was getting tired. The Point put in six goals to end the game 12-0 with Reinders getting the shot-out.

The Point’s next game is Friday November 27th at 7:20pm in Ilderton and then the Hawks play Saturday at 5pm in the Point versus Strathroy(Blue).
