Point Edward Atom’s Squeeze Out a
2-1 Victory versus Lucan
The Point Edward Atom
Blackhawks traveled to Lucan to play the Irish and came
away with a close 2-1 victory in Lambton-Middlesex
league action.
The game started with the
Blackhawks shorthanded with a holding call 45 seconds
into the period. The Hawks were able to kill the penalty
and keep the game at 0-0 with Reinders making saves when
needed. Action was a bit slow for both teams were
looking to be having a tough game. Lucan fell into
penalty trouble midway through the period but the Point
couldn’t capitalize and the period ended 0-0.
The second period seemed to
copy the first with neither team making a strong
offensive push to take the lead. As the period
progressed the Hawks seemed to be gaining some momentum
and late in the period, the Point hit the score board
when Kaeden Canie scored with an assist going to Bradley
Hunking to give the Point a 1-0 lead going into the
third.
The pace of the third period
picked up as the Hawks goal seemed to spark both teams.
Both teams had a power play early in the period but
neither team could take advantage of the extra man as
the game remained at 1-0. As the period grew to a close
both teams began to tire and the Irish were able to tie
the game at 1-1 with six minutes to play. The Blackhawks
continue to work hard and it paid off when Nathan
Edlington put it in the top shelf to give the Point the
2-1 win.
