Grads Claim CIS Major Awards and
All-Canadian Honours

Toronto, ON –
The Ontario Hockey League is proud to
announce that eight OHL grads were
recognized for their achievements when the
Canadian Interuniversity Sport Men’s Hockey
2008-09 Major Award Winners and All-Canadian
teams were presented Wednesday night in
Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Four-year Belleville Bulls forward Marc
Rancourt was named player of the year,
Dan McDonald who played five seasons
between the Plymouth Whalers, Kingston
Frontenacs, and Brampton Battalion was named
the most sportsmanlike player, and Andrew
Brown who played five season between the
Guelph Storm and Belleville Bulls was named
the most outstanding student athlete.
First team
All-Canadian OHL grads include Rancourt,
defenceman Scott Hotham who played
four seasons between North Bay, Saginaw,
Mississauga, and Barrie. Defenceman Kyle
Sonnenburg who played four season
between Belleville and Brampton. Second
team All-Canadians include defenceman
Andrew Hotham who played four seasons
with Barrie, Erie, and Saginaw. Forward
Hunter Tremblay played five seasons with
the Barrie Colts, and forward Jean-Michel
Rizk played five seasons between
Saginaw, Kitchener, and Mississauga.
90% of the players currently
playing in the Ontario Hockey League are
attending high school or post-secondary
institutions.
The
Ontario Hockey League recently awarded 316
scholarships to current and former OHL
Players.
