Lambton Shores, ON
– Last season the Lambton Shores Predators won
four games all year. This season, with a 3-2
shootout victory over Chatham, the Predators have
won their fourth of the year in just seven games.
Lambton
Shores opened the scoring early in the first, as
Brandon Butler scored just three minutes into the
game. Quickly right after Adam Arseneault would pick
up his fifth of the year, and put the Predators out
to a 2-0 lead after the first period, despite being
outshot 20-17.
In the
second period the Chatham Maroons would get one
back, as Eric Palazzolo would make it a 2-1 game, as
both teams clamped down and stopped shots from
getting to the net, as Chatham outshot the Predators
8-5.
In the
third, Chatham would again outshoot the Predators as
Chatham looked for the game tying goal. With the
Maroons on a powerplay, Michael Verboom would tie
the game at the 7:23 mark of the third, sending the
game into extra time.
Overtime
would solve nothing, so a shootout was needed.
Brandon Campbell would stop all three Maroon
shooters, while Ryan Rotundi would score on the
Predators second try, which would be the game
winner.
Campbell
made 42 saves in the victory, as the Predators
improve to a 4-3-0 record on the season.
Three of
Lambton Shores four victories have come via overtime
or shootout this season. Lambton Shores is also
3-1-0 while playing at home. This is the Predators
second win of the week after defeating Sarnia on
Thursday 7-4.
The
Predators will take on Leamington on Saturday,
October first at home before heading to St. Thomas
on Sunday.
