Dresden, ON
– The Alvinston Flyers got their first win of
the season in Great Lakes junior C hockey Friday
night, defeating the Dresden Jr. Kings 4-2 in
Dresden.
Alvinston
took the early early with two goals 59 seconds
apart. Dan Warner score first for the Flyers,
followed by Joe Archer to make it a 2-0 game in the
first five minutes.
Dresden
would cut the lead in half as Cody McPhail scored 30
seconds after Archer's goal to make it a 2-1 Flyers
lead. Before the period would expire, Jim Rouse
would pick up a powerplay goal for the Jr. Kings,
knotting the game at 2-2 after the first period.
No scoring
in second period despite Alvinston putting 13 shots
on net and Dresden 11.
In the
third the game remained tied till the 11:53 mark
when Clint Rose but the Flyers back in front 3-2.
Dresden would look for the equalizer, but Brett
Dalton would seal the game for Alvinston, scoring an
empty net goal to restore the two goal lead, and
give the Flyers the 4-2 victory.
James
Morreau got the victory for the Flyers, stopping 34
of 36 shots in the game.
Alvinston
and Dresden will repeat this game, only this time in
Alvinston on Sunday night.
