Predators with another three game week
andrew brethauer September 21st, 2011

Lambton Shores, ON –  With another tough weekend ahead of them, the Lambton Shores Predators will play two quick back to back road games on Wednesday and Thursday before heading home for a Saturday match up with Chatham.

The Predators are 2-2-0 on the season. Both wins coming by way of extra time, either shootout or overtime, but nevertheless, they have two wins in their first four games, half as many as the entire year last season. And with the number one ranked powerplay in the Greater Ontario Jr. B hockey league, it is no question that this years Predators are not the same as the years before.

Brendon Merritt already has 11 points in four games, go for a tie for first in points with five goals and sic assists, including 2 goals and five assists on the powerplay alone. Ferdinando Colella has a goal and eight assists, while Kyle Brothers has 2 goals and six assists, including five powerplay points.

It's an strength the Predators have not had in recent seasons, while normally spending time in the penalty box. But with a 33.33% powerplay and an 87.5% penalty kill, special teams are not hampering the Predators from making strides this season. Even in their two losses, the Predators remained in the game. A 3-2 loss to Chatham ended after a powerplay goal with five minutes remaining, and their latest loss to St. Marys, the Predators were leading heading into the third.

Now heading into another week with three games, Lambton Shores looks to continue their solid play for this season. Wednesday night they head to London to play the 2-1-0 Nationals who have only scored seven goals in three games while also only giving up seven.

Thursday night the Predators are in Sarnia for a Lambton County rival game with the Legionnaires. The Predators will undoubtedly be looking to their powerplay against the undisciplined Legionnaires.

They end their week at home to Chatham and look for the rebound win against the Western Conferences last place team.

A victory in each game would mean a higher win total the last season. Though it may be wishful thinking, the Predators new willingness to win will keep them in each game, and in the hunt to eclipse their win total from last season.
