Braves finish 3rd at AAA championships

Sarnia, ON – The Sarnia Rookie Braves recently finished 3rd at the Ontario Baseball Association AAA Championship in Kitchener.

The Braves opened the 15 team tournament against Brampton winning 5-3. Dylan O'Rae and Jack Symington had 3 hits a piece and scored 2 runs each. Jaxon Lucas,Blake Butler and Cole Brydges each had 2 hits. While Brydges had 4 runs batted in.

The Braves won game 2 beating North York 4-2. Symington had 3 hits and scored 2 runs. Alex Dafoe,O'Rae and Butler had 2 hits each. Kurtis Allarydce 1 hit.

Sarnia defeated Vaughn 5-1 in 3rd round action. Bailey Moffatt had 3 hits in the victory, Nick Medeiros, Brydges, Symington, O'Rae added 2 hits each.

In round 4 the Braves would find themselves up against Markham the only other undefeated team. After a long rain delay the Braves fell 4-0,Sarnia only had 6 hits in the game. O'Rae had 2, Brydges, Butler, Brennan Vanderkloet and Will O'Leary-Dilosa had 1.

Sarnia then faced Cambridge in the 5th round. The Braves would need a 7th inning come from behind 9-7 victory to advance to the next round.

Cole Brydges had 3 hits, Wesley Brooks, Carter Barron, Symington, O'Rae, Butler and O'Leary-Dilosa had 2 a piece.

After receiving a bye in round 6, Markham, Guelph and Sarnia were the remaining 3 teams all with a 4-1 record. Sarnia and Guelph had to play to determine who played Markham in the finals. The Braves scattered 14 hits but could only score 1 run losing 5-1. O'Rae, Symington, Brydges and Butler managed 2 hits each. Colton Shepherd 1.

The Braves defence was spectacular all weekend allowing only 22 runs in 6 games.

The Rookie Braves finished the season with a 50-7 record. They finished 1st in Tecumseh Tournament beating Kitchener in the final, 2nd in St. Thomas tournament, 1st in the London League regular season, 1st in London League playoffs.
