Petrolia Squires 3rd period comeback not enough
sarniasports October 29th, 2011

The Petrolia Squires were at home Friday night hosting the Komoka Classics in the second of back to back home games.  Last week the Squires took a 7 - 4 win in Komoka but this night it was the Classics to win as visitors with a final score of 4 -2.

Komoka took a 2 - 0 lead after the second with a first period powerplay goal by Kyle Smith and a shorthanded goal in the second by Chris McGuffin.

In the third period Mark Allen shortened the lead to put the Squires on the scoreboard.  Komoka regained the 2 goal lead just under the half way point with Todd Hunt scoring.  Petrolia fought back and JJ Martin put them within reach of tying things up with 4 minutes remaining.  However their efforts would be denied as the Classics scored into the empty net with :38 seconds remaining to take the win with a final score of 4 - 2.

Brad Holbrough was in net for the Squires taking the loss.  K.J. Robinson took the win.  The Squires outshot the Classics 58 to 33.  Petrolia went 0 for 5 on the powerplay with the Classic going 1 for 5.

The Squires are back in action next Friday night when they host the Monkton Wildcats at the Greenwood Recreation Centre in Petrolia.  Game time 8:00 pm.
