The
Petrolia Squires were at home Friday
night hosting the Komoka Classics in the
second of back to back home games.
Last week the Squires took a 7 - 4 win
in Komoka but this night it was the
Classics to win as visitors with a final
score of 4 -2.
Komoka
took a 2 - 0 lead after the second with
a first period powerplay goal by Kyle
Smith and a shorthanded goal in the
second by Chris McGuffin.
In the
third period Mark Allen shortened the
lead to put the Squires on the
scoreboard. Komoka regained the 2
goal lead just under the half way point
with Todd Hunt scoring. Petrolia
fought back and JJ Martin put them
within reach of tying things up with 4
minutes remaining. However their
efforts would be denied as the Classics
scored into the empty net with :38
seconds remaining to take the win with a
final score of 4 - 2.
Brad
Holbrough was in net for the Squires
taking the loss. K.J. Robinson
took the win. The Squires outshot
the Classics 58 to 33. Petrolia
went 0 for 5 on the powerplay with the
Classic going 1 for 5.
The
Squires are back in action next Friday
night when they host the Monkton
Wildcats at the Greenwood Recreation
Centre in Petrolia. Game time 8:00
pm.
