Point Edward Atoms Open Season with a  Shutout Win

The Point Edward Atoms Hockey team opened their season with a shutout win at home on Saturday against East Lambton. 

Scoring began early in the game with a strong offense that scored at 2:17 by Nick Kootstra assisted by Owen Shearon and Ethan Boucher.   But one goal from this eager Blackhawks team wasn't enough when Justin Waun scored the second goal, assisted by his hard working line mates Jeff Horner and Rian Dinyer at 5:07 into the 1st period.  The period ended with the Blackhawks leading 2 - 0.

The second period was just as exciting with the Blackhawks scoring 2 goals, the 1st at 1:58 into the period with Owen Shearon scoring with help from his line mates Hunter Terpstra and Shaun McDermott.  The 2nd goal of the period was at 3:43 from Nicolas Robson and assisted from Matthew Davis and Jaxon Lucas.

The 3rd period proved to be as exciting as the first two periods with Nick Kootstra getting his 2nd goal of the game assisted by Jaxon Lucas and Daniel Luciani.  Action resume and the Point Edward Blackhawks held on to the shutout to end the game with a final score of 5 - 0.

Strong performances from netminders Josh MacDonald and Luke Crombeen earned the shutout.
