With the thanksgiving
break over, the Sarnia Flag
Football Association resumed
play with 3 regular season games
played at Lansdowne Park in
Sarnia on Sunday, October 16.
In game 1 at 11:00, the
Bluewater Power Titans proved
too much for the HSE
Integrated/CSI Roughnecks
defeating them by a score of
66-8. In the other 11:00 game,
the Power Champs fought in a
close match-up trading scores
with the Lambton Metal Service
Rampage before finally defeating
the Rampage 32-26.
In the single game
at 1:00, the ANWIS Heat felt the
heat as Phoenix's Phoenixes kept
it close for 4 quarters with
the Heat needing to protect
their one touchdown lead for the
entire game before finishing the
Phoenix by a score of 39-31.
Of special note for
the games,
Titan defensive-back Jimmy
Grasse broke the SFFA record for
Most Flags in a Single Game with
15 tackles. Ironically, the
record broken today by Grasse
was originally set by him in
2009, 2010 and tied earlier in
2011.
With the completion
of today's games, the SFFA is at
the mid-season mark. Currently
the standings sit as: 1st:
ANWIS Heat (4/1/0), 2nd: Power
Champs (4/1/0), 3rd: Lambton
Metal Service Rampage (3/2/0),
4th: Bluewater Power Titans
(3/2/0), 5th: Phoenix's
Phoenixes (1/4/0) and, 6th: HSE
Integrated/CSE Roughnecks
(0/5/0).
The second half of the
regular season starts next week,
October 23 with 3 games played
at Lansdowne Park in Sarnia. At
11:00 the Heat will defend
their 1st place standing against
the Titans while the Rampage
will try to get back on the
winning path against the
Roughnecks. At 1:00, the Power
Champs will take on the
Phoenixes.
