Bluewater Wrestling Summer Season Review

This past summer,
5 members, and one past member, of the Sarnia /
Bluewater Wrestling Club were selected to
National Team programs. These programs included
the Canada Cup of International Wrestling in
Guelph, the Junior Pan American Championships
(20 years old and under) in Sao Paulo, Brazil,
the FILA Cadet Pan American Championships (17
years old and under) in Campeche, Mexico and the
FILA Cadet World Championships in Szombathely,
Hungary, the Senior Commonwealth Championships
in Melbourne, Australia.
Junior
Pan American July 2, 2011 Sao Paulo, Brazil
Darby Huckle 44 kg
now a student at Simon Fraser University in
Vancouver, BC competed at the Junior Pan Am in
Brazil. Placed 2nd. John
Dawson was team leader
FILA
Cadet Pan Americans. Aug 4-7, 2011 Campeche,
Mexico
Siobhan Smith 46
kg a grade 12 student at Northern Collegiate
placed 3rd.
Aaron McMillan 46 kg a grade 12 student at St
Clair placed 4th

London with the London / Western Wrestling Club,

kg 1st in the pre-junior age group
(18 and under)
Amy Werden a grade 12 student at LCCVI
represented Team Ontario this summer and
participated in the Canada Cup and Team Ontario
training camps and tours.
The new season is
now under way. The club trains at Sarnia
Collegiate in room 99 Tuesday and Thursdays 7-9
pm.

WRESTLING COACH SELECTED AS PRESIDENT
Sarnia / Bluewater
Wrestling Coach Dave Mottram has been elected as
President of the OAWA Ontario Amateur
Wrestling Association. This two year term began
in June. The OAWA is the governing body for all
amateur wrestling and grappling within Ontario
and works with Canada Wrestling and the Canadian
Olympic Committee to develop and promote
wrestling within Ontario.
Coach Mottram
was inducted into the sports hall of fame for
the University of Western Ontario. Coach
Mottram a multiple time national champion for
the UWO was inducted 2 times during Homecoming
weekend Oct. 1 in London. One, as a member of
the 1990 CIAU National Champion Team for UWO and
secondly as an individual athlete who won
several provincial and national titles for UWO
at the OUAA and CIAU level.
Coach Mottram is
currently employed by the St Clair Catholic
District School Board as a teacher and coaches
the wrestling team at St Patricks Catholic SS
and the Sarnia / Bluewater Wrestling Club.
