Sarnia, ON - The Lambton Sting Major Atoms (AAA)
dropped 3 games over the weekend as they fell at
home to London 7-3 before losing a pair of road
contests.
Josh McLean got the Sting off to a great start as he
scored 47 seconds in to the game with London. Dylan
Riddell and Brandon Neelin picked up assists on the
play. However, London responded with 3 goals of
their own to take a 3-1 lead following the opening
15 minutes.
The Sting continued to battle and took advantage
when London was short two men. Riddell would bang
home the rebound after a hard point shot from Jaycob
White to cut the London lead to one goal. Ryan
Barwitzki also earned an assist on the play. After
London restored the 2 goal lead the Sting battled
back thanks to some strong forchecking from the line
of Carson Perry, Cameron Ware and Hunter Monkhouse.
Monkhouse would get the goal with his linemates
drawing assists to make the score 4-3 midway through
the period.
The Sting just missed on a couple of chances to tie
the game as the second period began to wind down.
London would take full control of the game with 2
goals in the final 26 seconds of the period
including one with just 1 second remaining. Suddenly
down 6-3 entering the third the Sting failed to take
advantage of several powerplay opportunities and
would fall by a 7-3 count.
On Saturday the Sting fell 3-1 in Kitchener and they
followed that up with a 5-1 loss in Waterloo on
Sunday. Cameron Ware was the lone goal scorer for
the Sting against the Rangers. Ryleigh Vanderwal
earned an assist on the play. On Sunday Nolan
DeGurse scored a late power play marker to spoil the
the shutout for the Wolves. Dylan Riddell and Carson
Perry picked up the helpers.
The Sting will look to snap the losing skid next
weekend when they play a pair of home games -
entertaining Huron Perth on Saturday and then
hosting Kitchener on Sunday.
