Blenheim, ON - The Alvinston Flyers continue their
win streak, pushing it to four games after a 5-4
victory over the Blenheim Blades Sunday night.
Blenheim
had the initial lead, going up by two on the Flyers.
Taylor Phillips scored in the opening five minutes,
while Neven Wiebenga scored nine minutes later for
the 2-0 Blades lead.
But with a
minute left in the period, the Flyers would tie it
up. Brett Dalton would score on the powerplay to cut
the lead in half, and with five seconds remaining in
the period, Chris Edwards would get his first of the
game to tie it after the first period at 2-2.
In the
second, the Flyers continued to ride the momentum,
as Cody Curts scored 1:31 into the second,
Alvinston's third goal in just under two and a half
minutes of player.
Blenheim
would get the tying goal on the powerplay, but the
Flyers would come out with two more goals in the
second, as Kirk Dorman put the Flyers ahead by one,
while Edwards scored his second of the night on the
powerplay to make it a 5-3 game after the second.
Blenheim
would get one back in the third from Taylor
Phillips, but James Morreau would stop the remaining
seven shots in the period to pick up the victory.
Alvinston
had split goalie duties on the night, as Sebastein
Malette stooped 10 on 13 shots before being replaced
by Morreau who got the victory with 12 saves on 13
shots.
Alvinston
is tied with Mooretown for the lead of the North
Divisions, and the two teams will meet up on
Thursday in a special home game for the Flags at the
Sarnia Arena. Both teams are currently running four
game winning streaks.
