London,
ON – After defeating the London Nationals 7-0
Saturday night, the Lambton Shores Predators made it
two in a row beating the Chatham Maroons 4-3 at
Memorial Arena in Chatham Sunday evening.
"We came out slow in the first period," said former
Wallaceburg Lakers head coach Mark Davis of his
Lambton Shores Predators, "but we came alive in the
second and showed some jump."
Chatham got out to an early 2-0 lead as Maroons
captain Sean Myers scored two in the first period
with Blake Blondeel picking up assists on both
goals. Lambton Shores however, would own the second
period scoring four unanswered goals.
Brendon Merrit got the ball rolling for the
Predators, followed by two powerplay goals from Adam
Arseneault and Jake Carter. New addition Trevor
Ladd, who comes to the Predators from the Chicago
Hitmen of the North American Hockey League, also
scored in the second period.
In the third, Lambton Shores rode the hot
goaltending of former Alvinston Flyers netminder
Brandon Campbell who made 42-saves in the win,
"Campbell played great in net for us tonight," said
Davis about his goaltender. "He came up big when we
needed him."
Chatham was able to close the gap to 4-3 with just
over a minute left in the game as Marco Canzoneri
banged home a loose puck, but it wouldn't be enough
as the Predators held on for the win.
Lambton Shores has made several additions to their
roster recently including Ladd, as well acquiring
Brett Thompson and Tanner Ferguson from the Sarnia
Legionnaires. Earlier this week, the Predators also
acquired goaltender Justin Tugwell from the London
Nationals.
Lambton Shores travels to Leamington Thursday to
face the Flyers, before returning to Forest for two
home games Saturday and Sunday against St. Thomas
and Strathroy. Chatham travels to London Wednesday
to play the Nationals, and is in St. Marys on
Friday.
