Milverton, ON – The Petrolia Squires looked to get above .500 hockey in WOAA Sr. Hockey action, but after a 8-6 loss Saturday to the Milverton 4WheelDrives, the Squires go to a 3-4-0 record on the season.

Milverton held a three goal lead after the first period, as Mike Kusy had a goal and an assist, while Colin Eby also picked up the second goal, and Dan Rhame got the third goal as well as an assist in the period.

In the second, Petrolia would get on the board, as JJ Martin would make it a 3-1 game, but Brent Freeman would put the lead back up to three with a powerplay goal. Kusy would get his second of the game for a four goal lead before the Squires would respond with Breydan Belan scoring his first off the game, but the Squires would still trail 5-2 after two periods.

In the third, with a man down, Eby would get his second of the game shorthanded to make it a four goal lead. Petrolia would start a comeback, as Scott Hull and Jason McPhail would score just over a minute apart.

Later in the third Belan would score on a powerplay to tie the game at 6-6, as the Squires erased the four goal lead. But just over a minute later, Eby would get his third of the game on the powerplay to make it 7-6. Petrolia would pull their goalie but Kusy would add his hat-trick as well, as Milverton takes it 8-6.
