Sault Ste. Marie, ON – Last Thursday the Sault Ste.
Marie Greyhounds ended Sarnia's winning streak at
seven with a 5-2 victory. On Wednesday, the Sting
would head to Sault Ste. Marie for the return match,
only this time coming away with the 5-1 victory.
The
Greyhounds held the early lead with a powerplay goal
by Colin Miller 1:39 into the first period, but Jack
Nevins would reply just under a minute later to knot
it up at 1-1, as the first period would end all
square.
In the
second, Nail Yakupov would get his tenth goal of the
season on the powerplay to give the Sting their
first lead of the game, and they wouldn't look back
from that point on.
In the
third, Ludvig Rensfeldt would get his fifth of the
year, and Yakupov would add his second of the game
for a 4-1 lead. Craig Hottot would get his sixth of
the season, as the Sting start their road weekend
with a 5-1 victory.
Brandon
Maxwell got the start and made 29 saves for his
ninth win of the season. Charlie Sarault also picked
up three assists in the game.
Sarnia
continues their road trip with a trip to Saginaw on
Saturday to take on the Spirit, followed by an
afternoon game in London against the Knights.
