Sarnia, ON - After a year’s absence, Midget AAA
hockey is back in town and the team is off to a good
start.
This past
weekend the Lambton Jr. Sting kicked off the season
with 3 games in Stratford as part of the Alliance
Midget Showcase weekend. The team collected 2 wins
with excellent goaltending from both Braden Palocz
and Joel Sowinski.
In game
one the team used a strong third period to put away
the Kitchener Rangers 5-1. Goal scorers were Cleo
Gubbels (2) as well as Jay Ritchie, Nic Sproviero
and PJ Vandervaart. Assists went to Ryan Frizzell
(2), Robert Mapes (2), Mac Colasimone, Nick Zottl,
Dillon Liberty, Cody Perriam, Jay Ritchie and David
Addley.
In the
second game the team was flat and couldn’t really
get anything going falling 2-0 to Cambridge. The
team finished on a high note with a decisive 4-2 win
over Brantford. Nic Sproviero led the way with 2
goals with singles added by Dillon Liberty and Nick
Zottl. Assists went to Chad Beauchamp, Dillon
Liberty, Ryan Frizzell, Cody Perriam and Justine
Moore.
The
Alliance handed out game MVP awards each game and
this weekend’s winners were Cleo Gubbels, Ryan
Frizzell and Nic Sproviero.
