Pt Edward PeeWee’s Give Home Crowd 7-2 Victory
November 12, 2011
The Point Edward PeeWee’s Blackhawks hosted the Strathroy Red in the first of two games versus Strathroy teams in Lambton-Middlesex league action.
The first period saw both teams a bit slow out of the gate. Not until mid- period did the Hawks begin to put pressure on the Rockets and making it difficult to clear the puck out of their zone. With 3 minutes left in the period, the Rockets got a good scoring opportunity but Reinders came up big in net with a huge save to keep it 0-0.
The second period saw things open up as six goals were scored. Laframboise opened the scoring and gave the Point the lead with a shot from the blue line that deflected off a Rockets player to beat the goalie. The Rockets tried to counter with a goal of their own shortly thereafter but Reinders came up big a second time to keep their one goal lead.
Two minutes into the period the Point took a two goal lead when Hocking set up Lamore for a shot and Best got the rebound to extend their lead. At the 5 minute mark and with the face-off in the Rockets zone, Canie won the draw and set up Hunking in front of the net to get a nice 3-0 cushion. The Rockets finally were able to slow down the game and keep the Hawks off the score board with their goalie making some great saves to keep the game close. Strathroy was able to counter with two of their own goals before Jackson scored from the blue-line to end the period 4-2.
The third saw the Blackhawks extend their lead seconds into the period when Hocking scored on a sprawling goalie from a Noah Best shot. The Point Edward team controlled the action for majority of the period and the Rockets couldn’t get any good scoring opportunities. By the time the period ended Best and Jackson both got their second goals of the game to end it 7-2 in front of a large Point crowd.

Pt Edward PeeWee’s Take A Last Minute 5-4 Loss
November 13, 2011
The Point Edward PeeWee Blackhawks travelled to Strathroy in the second game in as many days to play Strathroy-Blue in Lambton-Middlesex league action.
This was the first time these two teams had met and they looked to be evenly matched early in the game. The Point got into penalty trouble mid-way through the period on a tripping called but managed to kill it. The Rockets hit the board first when the defense couldn’t control the puck and they got a breakaway to make it 1-0. Right from the preceding face-off the Rockets made it 2-0 to put the Hawks in a huge hole early. They tried to retaliate but couldn’t jam the puck past the Strathroy goalie.
Early in the second with the face-off in the Rockets end, Best put the puck in the top shelf to shorten the Strathroy lead to 2-1. Lindhout came up big for the Hawks to keep the game at 2-1 as Strathroy had a couple of good scoring chances. The Point team began putting pressure onto the Rockets goalkeeper but he was hot. Strathroy extended their lead back to 2 goals but the Hawks came right back when Best scored with a shot behind the net that hit the goalies leg and went in and then right from the next face-off, stickhandled through the defense to get his hat-trick to tie the game at 3-3. The tie was not long-lived as the Rockets caught the Point defense pinching in to make it 4-3 at the end of two periods of play.
The Hawks put good pressure on the Rockets early by moving the puck well with some good passing but couldn’t get it past the hot Rockets goalie Not until the period was coming to a close did the Point tie the game at 4-4 when Hocking scored off a rebound by Potvin’s blue-line shot. Each team tried to get the winner and the Rockets succeeded with 30 seconds left in the game to hand the Hawks their first lost of the season.
