The
Sarnia
Jr.
Sting
Minor
Atom
MD's
travelled
to
Stratford
on Sat.
November
12th to
take on
the
Warriors.
The
Sting
were
hungry
for a
win
having
tied
their
last
game.
Sarnia
started
slowly
allowing
a goal
in the
opening
30
seconds
of the
game.
Stratford
converted
on a
goal
mouth
scramble,
firing a
loose
puck in
behind
the
Sarnia
goalie.
At that
point it
seemed
as if it
was an
awakening
for the
Jr.
Sting as
Sarnia
never
looked
back.
They
would
tie the
game 27
seconds
later
when
Lleyton
Williams
received
the pass
from
Adam
Ikert
and went
on a
great
end to
end rush
finishing
with the
perfect
wrist
shot
into the
back of
the
Stratford
goal.
Seven
minutes
later
Sting
winger
Chandler
Haagsma
would
add a
goal to
put the
Sting in
front by
one. The
first
period
would
close
out with
the
Sting
leading
by a
score of
2 - 1.
The
second
period
produced
many
quality
opportunities
for the
Sting to
increase
their
lead
however
they
could
not
solve
the
Warrior
goaltending.
Numerous
Sarnia
breakaways
and 2 on
1's
resulted
in no
goals as
the
Sting
went
into the
third
period
up by
only one
.
Sarnia's
defense
stood
tall as
they
played
short
with
only two
pairings
for the
entire
game.
Great
effort
was
evident
by:
Connor
Antosiak,
Danny
Gratton,
Simon
Doan and
Alex
Newall.
The Jr.
Sting
kept
pressing
and
finally
were
rewarded
as Adam
Ikert
scored
an empty
net goal
in the
dying
seconds
of the
game.
Cayden
Wise
would
get the
assist.
Sting
goalie
Ian
Stouth
made
some
huge
saves to
keep
Sarnia
in the
game.
The kids
showed
great
emotion
and
strong
effort
in the
win.
Final
score:
Sarnia
Jr.
Sting 3
-
Stratford
Warriors
1.
Next
game for
the Jr.
Sting is
against
London
Bandits
Orange
on
Wednesday
night!
