East Lambton Eagles travelled to Point Edward to face off against each other for the first time this season.

 

In the 1st period, it was obvious that the Blackhawks would have an advantage over the Eagles, not only because of home ice but also the Eagles were playing with 3 less players than the Blackhawks. That being said, the Eagles were determined to show that they meant business and limited the Blackhawks to only 2 goals in this period.

 

The 2^nd period started out a little rough, with the Eagles giving up a 2 min. power play which cut down to 12 seconds after the Blackhawks were quick to score. The play continued and both teams were sharing control of the puck, making for long shifts, but the Blackhawks were able to continually change on the fly, resulting in fresh lines and 2 more goals.

 

By the 3^rd period it was clear that the Blackhawks were not going to let go of the reins. They were determined to dominate this period and did so by firing in 5 goals, one of which was a rocket from the point that blazed a trail through the Eagle’s defence and right through the 5 hole.

The Eagles were able to put one up on the board with 1:06 remaining in the game, but this was not going to be the start of a comeback.

 

Final Score – Point Edward Blackhawks win 10-1

 

The “Performance Player of the Game” Award went to Cameron Hachey for always looking for the next set up and his quick stick handling.
