The
Sarnia Express Women's AA team
was on the road Sunday for a
pair of games. Their first stop
was for an afternoon game
against the Waterloo
Ravens. The Ravens would score
early into the game and it would
remain 1-0 until the third
period when Sarnia was on the
power play. Defensemen Denise
Coubrough fired a shot from the
point, set up by Sheila Meykens
that was deflected nicely
by Jocelyn Steadman for the
tying goal. The Express would
get the go ahead goal on a hard
fought goal by Lacey Cote.
Assisting on the play was Nicole
Futers. Kate Rawlings had
another strong showing in net
for Sarnia. Final score 2 - 1.
Sarnia would then travel to
London for an evening game
against the Devilettes. Sarnia
would open the scoring early in
the first when Alicia MacDougall
sent a hard snapshot over the
net minders shoulder. It was
unassisted. Brandi Warner would
bring Sarnia up 2-0 on a perfect
pass out front by Tiffany Daley.
Brandi Warner's hard work would
pay of again as she found the
back of the net a second time,
to give the Express a
comfortable lead. Brooke Clubb
and Tiffany Daley assisted.
Nearing the end of the game
Sarnia would find themselves on
the penalty kill. Brandi Warner
would outskate the London player
to go in alone and score
shorthanded for her third of the
game and first hat trick of the
season. London would manage to
get one back on a breakaway, but
the Express would easily win the
game 4-1. Lisa Meyers faced a
barrage of shots only allowing
the one as Sarnia's strong
goaltending continues to keep
them in every game.
Net
minders, Kate Rawlings and Lisa
Meyers have only allowed 5 goals
in 4 games!
The
Express are currently sitting in
second place behind the
undefeated team from Aylmer.
Sarnia is on the road again next
Sunday for a doubleheader in
Kitchener.
