Toronto,
ON – The Ontario Hockey League
announced that Shane Prince of
the Ottawa 67’s is the OHL
Player of the Week after
recording seven assists in two
games with a plus-minus rating
of plus-2 for the week ending
October 30.
Prince set-up seven of the nine
goals scored by the 67’s in a
pair of victories over the
Peterborough Petes and the
Mississauga St. Michael’s
Majors. On Thursday night he
recorded a career-high four
assists as part of a 6-5
overtime win over the Petes, and
on Friday he contributed three
assists in a 4-3 shootout win
over the Mississauga St.
Michael’s Majors. The 67’s have
now won four straight games and
are ranked second in the OHL’s
Eastern Conference with 21
points.
Prince, an 18-year-old from
Spencerport, New York, is
playing in his fourth OHL
season. The second round pick
of the Ottawa Senators in the
2011 NHL Entry Draft has 14
points in eight games so far
this season after scoring 88
points in 59 games with the 67’s
last season.
Also
considered for the award this
week was Mark Scheifele of the
Barrie Colts and Gemel Smith of
the Owen Sound Attack.
Scheifele scored two goals and
six assists for eight points in
three games, while Smith scored
three goals and four assists for
seven points in three games. In
goal, Brandon Maxwell of the
Sarnia Sting posted a 2-0-0-1
record with a
goals-against-average of 1.62
and save percentage of .949.
