The Sarnia Sting lost 6 - 5 in
overtime to the Guelph Storm on
Saturday night at the RBC Centre.
Brett Ritchie opened the scoring for
the Sting at 12:41 and less than a
minute later Francis Menard scored a
short handed goal for the Storm.
Scott Kosmachuk gave the Storm the
lead on a powerplay in the final
minutes of the period to give the
Storm the 2 - 1 lead heading into
the second period.
In the second at 12:23 Ritchie would
score his second goal of the night
on a powerplay for the Sting.
The Storm answered back just :28
seconds later to regain the lead.
Patrick Watling scored the third
goal for the Storm.
Third period Charles Sarault scored
on the powerplay at 9:58 to tie
things up. Domenic Alberga
scored at 11:25 to give the Sting
the lead only to have Brock McGinn
score :21 seconds later to tie.
Just over two minutes later Jason
Dickinson scored to regain the lead
for the Storm but Sarnia fought back
shorthanded and Craig Hottot scored
at 17:34 to even things up and the
score would remain sending the game
into overtime. At 3:43 into
overtime Stephen Gaskin scored the
game winner for the Storm.
Brandon Foote went the distance for
the Storm making a total of 32
saves. Sting goalies Brandon
Hope and Brandon Maxwell shared the
duties with Hope making a total of
28 saves allowing 4 goals and
Maxwell making a total of 4 saves
allowing 2 goals.
Sting are back in action on Friday
Nov 11 when they travel to Owen
Sound. They are then back at
home for an afternoon game at 2:00
pm against Mississauga at the RBC
Centre.
