The
Sarnia Jr. Sting Major Atom Md
visited the West London Hawks on
Sunday October 30 and came away with
a 5 - 1 win.
Sarnia got off to a quick start
scoring on the first two shifts of
the game. One minute into the
contest Mat Waun scored his first of
three goals with Spencer Baillie
assisting. Cole Goosens scored on
the next shift of the game from Evan
Trigatti and Ryan Eyre to put Sarnia
up by two. Mat Waun would get his
second of the night before the first
period was over on a nice feed from
Collin Zimmer to make it 3 - 0 for
the visitors.
In the second period West London
would dig in their heels and slow
the Sarnia offense, eventually
scoring their only goal of the game
at the 9 minute mark.
In the third period Nathan Oliphant
would redirect a Damon Skinn-Wai
point shot to put the Jr. Sting back
up by three and with the third
period winding down Mat Waun would
complete his hat trick on a wrap
around that just snuck in on the
Hawks goalies stick side.
Stevie Schaefer and Cameron Stevens
had to stay sharp and made some nice
saves as they shared the net minder
duties. The coaches challenged the
captains and alternates to select
the coach’s player of the game and
they wisely chose Damon Skinn-Wai
for his hustle and smart play. The
parent’s player of the game was
Mathew Waun.
The Jr. Sting will host the
Stratford Warriors on Saturday
November 5 at the Clearwater Arena
at 12:00.
