Petrolia, ON - The Monkton Wildcats scored three in
the first period, as they defeated the Petrolia
Squires 5-3 in WOAA Sr. Men's hockey action Friday
night.
Petrolia
lead to start the game, as Mike Perry opened the
scoring midway through the period for the 1-0 lead.
But Monkton would respond quickly, as Dave Chessell
tied the game at 1-1. Monkton would take the lead on
a power play goal, as Nick Seiler would put the
Wildcats in front, and they would not look back.
Brett Binning would score shorthanded, as Monkton
took a 3-1 lead out of the first period.
In the
second period, Seiler would add his second power play
goal of the game to make it a 4-1 Monkton lead, but
the Squires would answer back late in the period
with a shorthanded goal of their own from Tanner
Tomlinson, and a power play goal from Ryan Chapman to
cut the lead to 4-3.
But that
is as close as the Squires would come, as Monkton
would add one more in the third period and take it
5-3.
Petrolia
will next travel to Tillsonburg on Saturday,
December 3.
