Legionnaires score four in third for out of conference victory

Sarnia, ON - The Sarnia Legionnaires scored four in the third period to take their out of conference match up with the Guelph Hurricanes 6-3.

Sarnia had the lead after the first period, scoring two late goals. Shawn Waldie scored on the powerplay to make it a 1-0 game, followed by Brent Sauve who scored 12 seconds later for the 2-0 lead, all with under two minutes remaining in the period.

In the second period, Dylan Wood would get the Hurricanes back into the game, first scoring midway through the second period, and then scoring a powerplay goal to tie the game at 2-2.

In the third, Sarnia would quickly get back on the board and in the lead, as Sauve gets his second of the game 3:15 into the period. But the lead would not last long, as Mike Charbonneau would score on the powerplay to tie the game back up at 3-3.

But with the game within the last five minutes, Sarnia would take the lead. Nathan Mater would put Sarnia in front, and just over a minute later, Louie Rowe would make it a two goal game with his second has a Legionnaires. Despite being shorthanded and with Guelph having an extra attacker with the net pulled, Anthony Donati would score on the open net and seal the victory for the Legionnaires in a 6-3 victory.

Sean Parker made 17 saves in the victory, as the Legionnaires have won the last two games, and currently are in third place in the Western Conference.

Sarnia will next travel to Listowel on Friday, November 18th.
