Andrew Brethauer November 13th, 2011

Mississauga, ON - The Sarnia Sting built a three goal lead heading into the third period and held on against the Mississauga St. Michaels Majors to come away with a 4-2 victory Sunday afternoon.

Nail Yakupov got his 13th goal of the season to start the scoring in the first, and would also pick up two assists in the second period on a powerplay goal by Craig Hottot and a late second period goal by Anthony DeAngelo, as the Sting built a 3-0 lead through the first two periods.

Mississauga would cut the lead down to one after Dylan DeMelo scored on the powerplay, and Jamie Wise added a powerplay goal as well midway through the period.

But Brett Ritchie would re-establish the two goal lead with his 6th goal of the season, as the Sting earn the road victory.

Brandon Maxwell made 18 saves for his 10th win of the season

With the victory Sarnia remains in first place of the West Division, one point up on Plymouth, but the Sting have two games in hand on the Whalers.

Sarnia will have a busy week next weekend, as they return home for a Thursday home game against Kitchener, followed by a home-away series with Saginaw starting with the home game in Sarnia on Friday, and away on Saturday.
