Sarnia, ON
- The Northern Vikings continue their football
dynasty in Sarnia with a 50-7 victory over the St.
Christopher Cyclones Saturday afternoon, winning
their fifth championship in a row, and 10th in
eleven years.

"I am
surprised by the score," said Vikings coach Craig
Davies. "I think things went out way today. I
thought that was as physical and fast as we have
ever played."
Northern
would have the game in hand by the early second
quarter, as the Viking defence provided the
opportunities for the offence to score, forcing
fumbles and interceptions to put Northern constantly
in the Cyclones end of the field. Eliot Handy would
put in the games first touchdown on a goal line run,
while Jon Ravenhorst would cap off another 1 yard
drive with a quarterback keeper to put the Viking
sup 14-0 after the first quarter.
In the
second quarter, the Vikings would get three
touchdowns in the first four minutes. Hindy would
break multiple tackles and avoid the Cyclones on his
way to a 55 yard touchdown run for his second
touchdown of the game.
The
Cyclones would fumble on their own one yard line the
next series, giving Ravenhorst a 1 yard throw to
Jawon Burns to make it a 28-0 game. Hindy would cap
off the opening of the quarter with another long
run, breaking tackles on his way to his third
touchdown of the afternoon, and a 35-0 Viking lead.
But
Northern wasn't finished, as Alasair Coy would pick
off Ryan Greenwood to give the Vikings good field
position again, and Ravenhorst would put in his
second touchdown of the afternoon with another one
yard quarterback keeper, capping off a 28 point
second quarter, for a 42-0 lead at the half.

In the
third, Curtis Robichaud would find his way into the
endzone on the group to increase the Viking lead to
49-0, as Northern looked to play a perfect game
against the Cyclones.
With under
a minute remaining in the fourth, Anthony Petrucci
would find his way into the endzone for the
Cyclones, as St. Chris breaks the shutout, but still
trailed by a 50-7 margin.
"Our goal
was to run the ball and not pass the ball as much
today," said Davies. "It worked in our favour to
wear them down, but I still didn't think it would be
a score like that."
Eliot
Hindy had three touchdowns in the game, and was
Northern's player of the game.
"He runs
down hill," Davies added. "He's not a big kid
either."
"They out-physicalled
us all day long," said Cyclones coach Dave
Greenwood. "They're quick and disciplined and that
is what you have to be. We seemed to be step behind
all day long. Championship day you got to bring it,
and they did."
The
Cyclones had to play a perfect game against the
undefeated Vikings, and Greenwood knew his team was
ready. But costly turnovers and constantly having
the ball in their end lead to the Vikings scores.
Both teams
will go on the SWOSSA events, as Northern will host
Chatham-Kent in the AAA division, while St. Chris
will travel to Wallaceburg for the AA.
