Sarnia Flag Football regular season comes to an end
sarniasports.com  November 21th, 2010

It was an exciting day for football as the Sarnia Flag Football Association regular season finished with 2 games on Sunday November 14 at Landsdowne Park in Sarnia. It was clear that a couple teams were fighting for survival as these games were probably some of the most exciting games in the SFFA's 6 seasons. In both games, one team in each game needed wins to stay alive, both teams facing elimination and also depending on the outcome of the other for hopes at the playoffs.

At 11:00 the ANWIS Heat needed at least a tie to give them a chance in the post season as they battled the Lambton Metal Service Rampage. It was back and forth throughout the game before the Heat, in the last play of the game, kicked a rouge to pull off a tie with a final score of 32-32. Scoring for the Rampage were Sean Devereaux, Ryan Hazzard, Todd Pepper and Cory Johnson. For the Heat, TD's were scored by Chris Seraz and Barry McGann. With this tie, the Heat could only wait for the outcome of the 1:00 game.

In the 1:00 game, Phoenix's Phoenixes needed a victory to keep their playoff chances alive seeking an upset victory over the Onsite Sportwear Power Champs. Like the early game, this too was a see-saw battle. Phoenix's defence met the challenge but their offence could not keep the pace as late in the third quarter, the Power Champs finally pulled away to win and eliminate Phoenix by a score of 49 to 31. Scoring for the Power Champs were Henry Mejia, Jeff Vandervies, Shane Mathieu, Chad Pereira, Scott Elgie and Frank Smith. For the Phoenix, majors were scored by AJ Sheppard, Phil Veale and Andrew Veale.

With these games, the SFFA regular season ends with the final standings as follows: Bluewater Power Titans - 1st; Lambton Metal Service Rampage - 2nd; Onsite Sportswear Power Champs - 3rd; ANWIS Heat - 4th and Phoenix's Phoenixes - 5th.

The SFFA playoffs begin Sunday November 27 with the Bluewater Power Titans taking on the ANWIS Heat at 11:00 while the Lambton Metal Service Rampage will challenge the Onsite Sportwear Power Champs at 1:00. All games in the SFFA are played at Lansdowne Park in Sarnia.
