The Lady Lancers travelled to Forest on Wednesday to compete in the North Lambton Classic Girls Hockey Tournament. The Lancers were undefeated at the end of the day and won the championship in a shootout beating their rival, Sarnia’s Northern Vikings.

The first three games against St. Christopher, St. Pats and Dresden’s LKCS ended in scores of 7-0, 7-1 and 4-2 respectively. The Lancers came out flying in the championship game taking a 2 goal lead. Northern didn’t let up and came back to tie it 2-2. They then went into a 4 on 4 overtime with no scoring. A shootout was the deciding factor with Petrolia’s Amelia Maniuk in net.

McKayla Eves and Jillian Rops were the first two shooters for the Lancers but were both unable to beat Northern’s goaltender Erica Sullivan. In the Lancer end, Amelia shut Northern’s shooters out as well. The next shooter for Petrolia was Karly Dobbin. She found the back of the net but Northern’s Marlowe Pecora did as well to remain at a tie. Petrolia then sent out Danielle Campbell but once again both goalies made the saves. Darian Adams was the hero of the game scoring for the Lancers. Maniuk shut down Northern’s 5th shooter to help capture the championship!
