Though they lost to the Northern Vikings in the finals of LSSAA, the St. Clair Colts Senior Girls basketball team took part in their first match up for the SWOSSA competition, taking on Chatham based John McGregor High School Panthers Tuesday night at St. Clair
Riley Williams would start the game off strong for the Colts, sinking two free throws before stealing the ball on the inbound and putting up another two points. The colts would continue their pressure, as Ashley Bisson would sink a three, and then add two more herself to give the Colts a 9-0 lead. The Panthers would pass the ball to try and find someone open, and when they did they found the long shot for a three themselves. But Bisson would add to her first quarter points, stealing the ball again and laying it up for another two, while Williams would drive the lane for two more., and later steal and lay up for eight in the quarter, St. Clair would lead 20-6 after the first quarter.
In the second, Samantha Kaldeway would get two rebounds in a row and put them both back up for four points. Taryn Bernier would score a lay up off the glass and the extra on the foul, and Williams would continue to add to her total with two more free throws. Alex Hodgins, Lexie Hanly and Bisson each got in on the scoring in the second to give St. Clair a 33-16 lead at the half.
Williams would add more to her total, adding a finger roll for two points, while Taryn Bernier added a long three ball and a jumper for two. Hanly added rebounds for the Colts, while Emily Powell added two free throws at the end of the third to put the Colts up comfortable, 48-22.
Ashley Bisson would add two free throws and as would Kaldweway for a 52-27 victory.
