The Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting Bantam A's travelled to the Kitchener Lady Rangers Fallfest Tournament this past weekend and returned with Championship Medals for their hard work.
In game # 1 Sarnia faced the Stoney Creek Sabres and prevailed with a 2 to 1 victory. Naomi Parsons and Amy Rawlings each scored unassisted.
Game 2 saw Sarnia going up against the Niagara Falls Rapids and coming away with a convincing 5 to 1 win. Scoring for Sarnia were Kassie Roache with 2 , Jenelle Labadie ,Leslie Brandon and Parsons each with singles. Assists went to McKayla Eves, Sydney Weiss, Beatrice Dufour, Courtney Sinclair, Roache [2], Labadie and Rawlings.
With 2 victories Sarnia went right to the semi-finals versus the hometown Lady Rangers. In this game Sarnia started quickly with 3 goals in the first period and added 2 in the second and a single in the third for a 6 to 0 win. Scoring for Sarnia were Riley Wilhelm, Emily Regan, Labadie, Sinclair and Parsons [2]. Helping with the scoring assists went to Labadie [2], Rawlings, Roache, Dufour,Weiss, Sinclair, Eves and Parsons.
Going into the Championship Game, Sarnia came up against a very talented Toronto Leaside Wildcat team. There was no scoring until the 5:20 mark of the 2nd period when a Jenna Rops shoot from the high slot found the back of the net. The 3rd period proved better for Sarnia as they add 2 more goals from Rawlings and Labadie for the 3 to 0 win. Assists went to Weiss, Rops ,Regan and Makenna Harrison. Sarnia's entire net minding duties were carried out by Karley Ferguson who made a number of great saves to keep her team in the games.
