The Sarnia Major Atom A/AA Sting took top honours at the Mooretown Storm Tournament winning all four games they would play on the weekend.

The Sting would knock off the Mooretown Storm in their first game of the tournament by a final score of 5 – 2.  Jake Vince would put Sarnia on the scoreboard less than a minute into the game and Austin Coutts would add a goal late in the period for a 2 -0  lead at the end of the period.  The Sting seemed to sit back at this point and played a very sloppy 2nd period as Mooretown was able to narrow the gap to 2 – 1 heading to the 3rd period.  Jake Vince would bury 2 3rd period goals and Curtis Marks would add another goal for a final score of Sarnia 5, Mooretown 2.  Justin Houle picked up 3 assists, single assists went to Mac Caley, Matthew Torti, Jack Smith, Devin Devooght, Tristan Haagsma, Luke Ross and Dawson Young.  James Dunn played strong in net to record the win in goal.

On Friday morning, the Sting were eager to hit the ice after a mediocre effort in their first game.  Sarnia would dominate this game against Goderich, winning by a final score of 11 – 0 and recording several team records, including highest number of goals in a game, highest number of shots and passes in a game at over 50 and also recorded no penalties during the game.  The offensive charge was led by Lucas Ross with 3 goals and 4 assists.  Dawson Young would add 2 goals and 2 assists, Brett Allardyce 1 goal and 2 assists, and Tristan Haagsma, Jack Smith and Spencer Preece each had 1 goal and 1 assist.  Curtis Marks and Jake Vince would each add single goals, Matthew Torti and Devin Devooght contributed with two assists each to round out the scoring.  Max Musico would record the shutout.

On Saturday morning, the Sting would play their final round robin game against Simcoe.  Once again, the Sting came up with a strong effort winning this game by a final score of 3 – 0 and outshooting their opponents 32 – 8.  Jake Vince would strike for the Sting (assist Justin Houle, Devin Devooght) about 2 minutes into the first period.  The Sting would carry the play for the rest of the period and into the 2nd period, hemming Simcoe in their own end for extended periods of time but were unable to add to their lead.  Sarnia continued the pressure into the 3rd period and Jake Vince (assist Devin Devooght, Tristan Haagsma) buried a rebound on a shot from the point for a 2 – 0 advantage.  Austin Coutts (assist Matthew Torti) would snap home a beautiful wrist shot towards the end of the period to seal the win.  James Dunn would record the shutout in net.

In the final on Sunday morning the Sting would again face Simcoe.  Simcoe gave a strong effort in this game keeping the game tied at 1 through 2 periods, but in the end Sarnia proved to be too much and would win by a final score of 4 – 1.  Brett Allardyce (assist Devin Devooght) would open the scoring on a hard wrist shot to the top corner to give the Sting the lead.  The Sting would continue to carry the play, but in the 2nd period would suffer a bad bounce in front of their goal as Simcoe tied the score at 1.  In the 3rd period, Sarnia would benefit from a couple of power play opportunities, moving the puck nicely and creating numerous opportunities but failing to score.  It would end up being a short handed goal by Lucas Ross, on a nice solo effort which finally gave the Sting the lead for good.  Shortly after, the Sting would score another short handed goal by Austin Coutts (assist Lucas Ross) for a 3 – 1 lead.  Devin Devooght (assist Mackenzie Caley) would add another goal for a final score of Sarnia 4, Simcoe 1.
