Lambton Sting shut out Jr Hawks
SARNIASPORTS.COM   November 13th, 2010

Lambton was hosting the Jr. Hawks from Cambridge on Sunday afternoon planning to continue their good play from Saturday.

The Jr. Sting and Cambridge took turns carrying the play but it was the home squad who took advantage of a power play opportunity mid-way through the first period with Max Steeves tucking in a wraparound effort. Lambton only gave up four shots in the period with Ethan Hunt making the saves.

Lambton’s Jared Pageau increased the lead to two when he stepped out of the penalty box, lifted the stick of the Jr. Hawks defender and slid one in “five-hole” short-handed to make it 2-0. Pageau scored his second of the afternoon when he banged one home from close range on a 5-on-3 power play after some good puck movement. Play continued to be chippy in the third period with a number of penalties to both squads but no scoring occurred for either team and Lambton protected a 3-0 victory.

Special teams were key and Lambton’s penalty killing and power play unit were up to the task as was Ethan Hunt in net. Lambton managed to fire thirty one shots on net while only giving up twelve and looked more comfortable on the power play.

Jared Pageau had two goals and one assist.

Max Steeves had one goal.

Ben Schoch, Cade Robbins, Conner Royer and Garrett Miller each had one assist.

Ethan Hunt had the shut out in the net.
