On
Wednesday November 10 the Sarnia Jr. Sting Minor
Atom MD played the West London Hawks and came
away with a 6 - 2 win.
The Hawks started strong with a break away right
off the drop of the puck. Stevie Schaefer stood
his ground and denied the Hawks forward. Zac
Moore scored the first goal of the game 4
minutes later unassisted. Ryan Eyre would score
with 2 minutes left in the first as he picked up
the rebound from a Zac Moore shot and slid it
past the Hawk net-minder. Ian Bailey also drew
an assist on the play.
In the second the home team halved Sarnia's lead
as they scored 3 minutes into the period. With
two minutes left in the second frame Zac Moore
took a nice feed from Ryan Eyre and slid his
second of the contest to the stick side of the
West London goalie. Ian Bailey started the rush
and was awarded an assist on the play. The Hawks
pressed late in the second and scored with only
1 tick left on the clock to make it a one goal
game again.
Early in the third period Zac Moore completed
his hat trick with a nice shot to the glove side
top corner unassisted. Shortly after Ryan Eyre
would get his second of the game from Moore and
Bailey. The line of Evan Trigatti, Collin Zimmer
and Nathan Oliphant had several chances
throughout the game and were finally rewarded at
the 9 minute mark of the third when Zimmer
scored, assisted by Trigatti and Oliphant. It
was Cameron Stevens turn to finish the game in
net for the Sting as he held the Hawks scoreless
in the third.
The Jr. Sting will participate in the Mt.
Brydges Atom MD Tournament this weekend.
